A Visit from Sheikh Ahmed

Friendship Karina and Dianda

By. Siti Hajar

It was a bright and sunny day at school. Karina, Dianda, Aliya, Wira, Hanafi and their’s friend were sitting on the grass in the schoolyard, excited for their outdoor lesson. Their teacher, Miss Salsa, was standing in front of them with a warm smile. Coach Farid, their sports coach, was also there to help with the class.

"Today, we have a very special guest," Miss Salsa announced.

Just then, a man with a kind face and a gentle voice walked up to the group. "This is Sheikh Ahmed from Palestine," Miss Salsa said. "He’s here to tell us about the situation in his country."

Sheikh Ahmed smiled and waved at the children. "Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh," he said in Arabic. All the people answered, "WaalaikumussalamuWarahmatullahi wabarakatuh."

The children looked curious. Karina raised her hand. "What’s happening in Palestine, Sheikh?"

Sheikh Ahmed took a deep breath before speaking. "In Palestine, my country, there is war. Many people are suffering, especially women and children. They are facing hardships every day. But as Muslims, we stand together to help each other."

"That’s so sad," Dianda whispered to her friend Aliya. "What can we do to help them?"

Miss Salsa smiled and said, "Sheikh Ahmed is here to remind us about the importance of solidarity and helping those in need."

Sheikh Ahmed continued, "We, as Muslims, believe in helping one another. I encourage you to support the people of Palestine, whether through donations or by raising awareness."

Hanafi stood up and asked, "How can we send help to them, Sheikh?"

Sheikh Ahmed nodded. "You can donate money or supplies, and even pray for peace in Palestine. Every little bit helps."

"Will the donations really make a difference?" Wira asked, feeling a little unsure.

Coach Farid translated Sheikh Ahmed’s reply: "Yes, every donation, no matter how small, brings hope to those suffering. And it shows that we care."

Karina looked at her friends and said, "We should help them. We can all donate some of our pocket money to support Palestine."

The children agreed and decided to collect donations together. Miss Salsa and Coach Farid helped them organize the collection. They learned that even small acts of kindness could make a big difference.

As they gathered around, Karina smiled and said, "We may be far away, but we can still make a difference. Let’s help the people of Palestine, and remember them in our prayers."

The children felt proud knowing they were making a difference, no matter how far away the people of Palestine were.

And from that day on, they all understood the true meaning of solidarity and kindness.

Karina arrived home after school, her face beaming with excitement. She rushed into the living room, where her mother, Amira, was preparing lunch.

"Mom! You won’t believe what happened at school today!" Karina exclaimed, her eyes wide with enthusiasm.

Amira smiled as she turned toward her daughter. "What happened, dear?"

"We had a special guest—Sheikh Ahmed from Palestine! He told us about the situation in his country, and how many people, especially women and children, are suffering because of the war. It was so sad, Mom," Karina said, her voice filled with empathy.

"Sheikh Ahmed said that we, as Muslims, should always help each other, especially in times like these. He encouraged us to donate, even if it’s just a small amount, to help the people of Palestine," Karina explained.

Amira smiled proudly. "That’s a very noble thing to do. Every little bit counts. You’re making a difference, Karina. I’m so proud of you."

Karina nodded with a smile. "We all agreed that we want to see an end to the war and hope that Israel stops the violence and frees the Palestinian Muslims. We want peace for them, Mom."

“You’re doing the right thing by raising awareness and helping however you can.

Never forget that kindness, even in small ways, has the power to change the world."

Karina hugged her mother tightly. "Thanks, Mom. I’m glad we can do something to help. Every little bit really does make a difference."

With that, Karina and Amira shared a quiet moment, knowing that their compassion would echo far beyond their home, as they joined others in praying for peace and supporting the people of Palestine.
