On Sunday, Arisya went with her father to visit Grandma in Lampouh Keude village. Grandma’s house was at the end of the road, near a swamp full of sago palms (pohon rumbia).

“Wow, there are so many sago palms here, Dad!” Arisya exclaimed.

Father smiled. “Yes, my dear. The sago palm is not just a tree. It is a tree full of benefits.”

He explained:

• The sago palm provides shelter for fish and birds.

• Its leaves can be used as roof material, and its stalks as walls.

• Its trunk produces sago, a staple food in some regions.

Arisya was amazed. “So, one tree can help both humans and animals?”

Father nodded. “Exactly. But we must be wise. If people cut down sago palms carelessly, fish and birds lose their homes, and humans lose food sources.”

Arisya thought deeply. “I want to learn how to make food from sago, but I also want to remind my friends that protecting sago palms is just as important as using them.”

✨ Educational Message: The sago palm teaches us to be critical: don’t just take, but also protect nature so it lasts.
